I'm Maisie, better known as Mercury in the Petz community. I've been into Petz about as long as I possibly could; I owned and played with the first original Catz game from 1995, and then became an avid member of the online community upon discovering Petz 5 around 2009. At that time I was 12 years old, and was most active around then, so if you remember me from back then, hi! And also sorry! (Blanket apology for being a preteen)
I mainly spent time on the now-defunct All About Petz forum, where I was also a moderator (very funny role to give an at-the-time 13 year old). I dabbled in RKC and PCG as well (as Mercury and Kiwi-Strawberry respectively), and then finally joined Whiskerwick (again as Mercury) during the 2017 revival. Most of my creating was done in either the early 2000s or in 2017-2018, so if you have a pet from Mercury from then, it could be me!
I haven't really been around here in the past 6 years, but after thinking about it often I've decided to poke back in. I missed my petz, and I have a LOT more coding experience now, coding this whole site from scratch, instead of using premades or ripping off Neopets petpage snippets like I did 6 years ago (sorry).
I'm a very, very big fan of Catz! I'm fond of Catz with fluffy tails and big paws, unusual color combos, and Catz whose personality doesn't match their appearance. I LOVE alley spots, as well as nose patches. I have a fondness for dark-colored eyes, as well as light greens, teals and light greys. I like a lot of things and like to have a fun variety in my Catz crew. (Though I have a few too many already...)
I have the opposite problem with Dogz; I have very few and I'm very picky! I tend more towards dogs with lots of patches and markings, as well as big fuzzy tails. I prefer my Dogz on the slightly smaller end, and hope to eventually get a bit more Dachi and Bulldog blood in my crew. (Sheepdog personality is my favorite though. So floppy and silly.)
I really like hexies that make use of in-game natural colors and textures. (I also think Catz are underutilized for hexies, but that's a given). I like when people give them just slightly different proportions than usual; I like them to look like Petz, but I think making them just a little more gangly or fluffy or just a bit smaller/bigger in some places goes a long way.
